Sometimes I just can’t believe that I am out of college and
working a full-time job. Seeing everyone’s first day of school pictures on
social media have made me realize how fast time flies. I just had a flashback to
me sitting in the Planning Lab in Temple Hall at Missouri State University
freaking out about how my future was going to play out. I knew going into the
Regional/City Planning field would be competitive and jobs in the field were and
still are scarce in this part of the country. That didn’t stop me and I was
determined to be able to stay in Southwest Missouri and find a job in Planning.
Thankfully not one, but two jobs found me and I have been able to stay close to
where I grew up and the people I know and love. There are days when I sit at my
desk at work and wish I could trade it back in for a desk in a classroom.
Although at this time two years ago, I was counting down the days until
graduation and the beginning of adulthood!! I absolutely love my job but I have
always loved school and plan to go back later in life to further my education
(preferably after I pay off my undergrad…so we’re talking much later in life).
Until then, I will continue to be thankful for the opportunities God has given
me and will continue to work to help make my community a better place.
